Former Werder player Tim Borowski on Monday will successfully complete his 18-month traineeship in the marketing department. The 34-year-old has been going through the program since January 2013, getting insight into all management stations with Werder. In addition, Borowski visited seminars at the international Jacobs University in Bremen, graining knowledge of external companies like Mondelez and the DFL subsidiaries Sportcast and Digital Sports.

"That was really a very instructive, interesting time which gave me an entirely new perspective on the football business after my playing career. I gathered a lot of great experience and was able to extend my network. It was a good finish to a long time with Werder with a lot of sports success and positive experiences. Since moving into the football boarding school 18 years ago, I always had a feeling of home with my Green-Whites. I would like expand myself further and complete the sports management studies that I have already started and move forward with my coaching training," said Borowski.

Filbry: “He will go his way."

Werder management chairman Klaus Filbry, who was Borowski's contact person during the 18 months of the program, is happy about the success of the program. "We gave Tim the chance to get some good insight into the football business and he used it. There was very positive feedback from all areas in which he worked. He will go his way," said Filbry.

Due to an ankle injury, Borowski was forced to step away from the game in September 2012 after 236 Bundesliga matches, all of them for the Green-Whites from 2001 to 2012 save for the 2008-09 season with Bayern Munich. Among the top successes for the 34-year-old was the 2003-04 double during which he scored two goals in the German DFB Cup final against Alemannia Aachen. Borowski played 33 times for the German national team and finished third at the 2006 World Cup and was runner-up at the 2008 European Championship.
