When Sebastian Boenisch left the training grounds Sunday morning he had to hurry off. His flight was leaving in the early afternoon to Warsaw where the halfback was to prepare with the Polish national team for the up-coming test match on Wednesday 29 February 2012 against Portugal (kick-off 8:45 p.m.). "Training was no problem. I was able to take part in everything. Now I have to pack some things and then it's off to the airport," said Boenisch after returning to fitness. The 25-year-old suffered an injury to his right ankle in the final training before the Hamburg match and has been unable to play since.

After a short run, another Green-White international made his way to Bremen airport. Centre back Francois Affolter and Switzerland will take on Argentina on Wednesday (8:30 p.m.) in Berne.

Claudio Pizarro, Aleksandar Ignjovski, Marko Arnautovic, Zlatko Junuzovic, Sokratis, Mehmet Ekici and Tim Wiese meanwhile did not even show up at the Weser Stadium training grounds as they will all be playing for their respective national teams on Wednesday.

"Piza" must not travel so far this time as Werder's goal-getter and the Peruvian national team will play Tunisia Wednesday afternoon (3 p.m.) in Radès. "Iggy" meanwhile could make his senior team debut for Serbia against Cyprus (in Nicosia, 8:30 p.m.). The duo Junuzovic and Arnautovic will do battle with the Austrian national team against Finland and former Werder player Petri Pasanen in Klagenfurt at 8:30 p.m. Bremen's Greek international Sokratis will play against Belgium at 7:45 p.m. in Heraklion while Ekici and Turkey have a test match against Slovakia at 8:30 p.m. at home in Bursa. The only international who didn't have to board a plane was Wiese, who will have a "home match" with Germany in Bremen against France.

Florian Hartherz, Niclas Füllkrug and Tom Trybull will not be playing in the first U19 German national team match against Croatia in Kostrena. "Niclas and Flo have missed a lot of school and some exams in the past couple months. Now they have to make it up. Tom will miss the game due to calf problems," said head coach Thomas Schaaf Sunday morning.
Lennart Thy meanwhile will play for Germany's U20 national team in their match against Italy in Foggia at 3 p.m.

Werder's second German U20 international Florian Trinks is on call for the international tournament, which has already been won by head coach Frank Wormuth's German team.

Werder's internationals are expected back along the Weser on Thursday.
