The second half of Werder's test match against AZ Alkmaar was a good 10 minutes old when Sebastian Boenisch was substituted in to celebrate his comeback following a 16-month injury break. "My last game was about one and a half years ago. Sure it was a very special feeling," said the 24-year-old Boenisch after the game.

The substitution in the game against Alkmaar was the highlight of a good training week in Belek for Boenisch. "I was very happy that the coach brought me here and that I am back again. The knee is holding up and I hope that it stays like that. We did quite a bit in the first couple days. It looks good," said Boenisch, who at times during the training camp slowed things down to reduce the burden on the knee and last over the long haul.

But the defender remains motivated and hungry for success with two goals on his list for the future. "Basti" is playing for a new contract in summer 2012 and hopes to play at the European Championship. "It's positive pressure, and in professional football that is an unusual thing," he said. "Of course I have to prove myself for a new contract. But the only thing that's important is that I remain healthy. If I play a couple good games then the situation will change very quickly." And he took the first step against Alkmaar. "I think that was really good for a start. I hope that I will get my next games soon in the second half."
