The North Derbys against Hamburg from the 2013-14 season remain a success story. Werder won derbies 99 and 100 against their arch rivals 2-0 and 1-0 respectively. And it shouldn't be a surprise that two of the three goals from those games were voted among the top three Green-Whites goals this season in a WERDER.DE survey.
WERDER.DE presents the three goals with the most votes
What a goal! All of Bremen was looking forward to the 100th Bundesliga showdown with Hamburg for weeks. For many Werder fans, it was the most important match of the year. The derby was decided on a goal by Zlatko Junuzovic, who hit home after a fantastic back heel assist by Aaron Hunt for the game-winner to make it 1-0.
"Obraniak saves Werder!" WERDER.DE summed up the 21st match day with these words, which were exactly what many fans thought when Ludovic Obraniak scored his first goal for the Green-Whites. The Polish international hit home his free kick just two minutes before the final whistle to secure a 1-1 draw in the home match against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Another North Derby, another victory - and another wonderful Werder goal. Junuzovic and Co. showed in the first half of the season as well that they can beat Hamburg. The Green-Whites won 2-0 in perhaps the most exciting match of the first half, grabbing three points on the road. The match winner was Nils Petersen as he collected his third brace for Werder on the sixth match day. His score to make it 2-0 was a wonderful looper in the fourth minute of stoppage time to decide the game for good.
