Leon Balogun had to leave the training grounds of Weser Stadium six weeks ago with a thickly bandaged knee, having partially ruptured a ligament in a challenge with Tom Trybull. Forty-four days later, on Friday 7 October, the 23-year-old Werder player was able to return to the pitch.
He was back for an individual session with rehab trainer Jens Beulke. "I am doing much better because I am continually making advances. I hope that I can return to team training in two weeks," said Balogun.
Predrag Stevanovic is still away from the training grounds as the Werder midfielder has been dealing with Achilles tendon problems since the end of September. And it's unclear when the 20-year-old will return. A help could be the weekend off which head coach Thomas Schaaf gave his players after the session Friday morning. Werder's next practice will be Monday 10 October 2011 at 3 p.m.
