After last year’s trip to Dubai, Werder Bremen returned to the Turkish Riviera for the 10th time for their winter training camp, arriving at the Antalya airport at 9:33 p.m. local time. Also on board the Sky Airlines SHY 1898 flight was Denni Avdic. After the 22-year-old ran laps with the Werder players on the training grounds in the morning, the transfer of the Swedish striker was completed shortly before departure for Turkey. “The final signatures were given and the transfer was completed,” said Klaus Allofs at Bremen airport.
"Of course it nice that he can complete the entire preparations with the team and can fly with us to the training camp. You could see in the summer how important that is for a player," said the manager, who thinks highly of the striker. "We have been observing him for a while. He is a young player who comes from a league which naturally is different than the Bundesliga. But I am confident that he will find his way quickly," said Allofs. And his teammates want to help him get used to the new environment. "We have to make sure and integrate him quickly," said Marko Marin. The Swede with Bosnian roots will have eight days during the training camp to get to know his new teammates.
"This kind of training camp brings a team together and you have the opportunity to optimally prepare for the up-coming second half," said Sebastian Prödl about the importance of the training days. The players moved into their rooms at the Kempinksi Hotel The Dome and ate dinner together. It was the calm before the storm as training will start in earnest Tuesday morning.
The following players travelled to the training camp: Wiese, Mielitz, Wiedwald, Düker - Pasanen, Borowski, Arnautovic, Fritz, Avdic, Marin, Hunt, Prödl, Silvestre, Husejinovic, Kroos, Wagner, Jensen, Frings, Pizarro, Mertesacker, Thy, Trinks, Balogun, Schoppenhauer, Schmidt, Testroet, Bargfrede, Ayik
