There was a change for the team behind SV Werder Bremen's Bundesliga team at the beginning of the year as Tim Barten took over the function of team manager on 1 January 2013.
The 36-year-old Barten, who had previously worked in the Green-Whites' strategic marketing department, is now dealing with organisational matters around the Bundesliga team which do not belong directly to the coaching staff. Barten will work closely with director of professional football and scouting Frank Baumann and future manager of sports Thomas Eichin as well as head coach Thomas Schaaf.
"With the creation of this position, we are increasing the possibilities in organisational areas. The team manager will deal with questions which affect the team outside the game," said Baumann. Included in the tasks are pre-visits to training camps or supporting the integration of players. Barten worked for Hannover 96 before coming to the Green-Whites in 2009 and previously had worked for various marketing agencies. "This new job is certainly a step in a somewhat different direction. But I am happy for the trust given to me. I am certain that I will have the opportunity to help out in this area and bring success to the team," said Barten.
