It's almost like a never ending story for Philipp Bargfrede. The midfielder continually suffers setbacks with injuries. It doesn't matter if it's a problem with a meniscus, Achilles tendon issue or muscular pain - Werder's No. 44 has missed football with it in the last few months. He has already had to sit out this summer with a knee injury.
The summer schedule had been clearly structured for Bargfrede. Undergo surgery, get fit and go at it starting with the beginning of preparations. ‘Bargi' therefore underwent surgery on his left exterior meniscus in May, with the operation done by Dr. Ulrich Boenisch in Augsburg. But often things go differently than how they are planned. "Actually I wanted to be ready in time for the start of preparations. Unfortunately there was a small setback so everything will take a little bit longer," said Bargfrede.

Even though team training is not an option just yet for Bargfrede, he will make the trip with the Green-Whites to Zillertal. "I will fly to the training camp together with the team. I will complete my personal rehab program there. I hope that I can make further steps and maybe it works out that I can start me running training," said the 25-year-old.
Bargfrede, who already had to miss SVW's China trip because of the knee injury, can work on his comeback near his teammates. "It will be good for me to be with the team. It doesn't matter that I cannot train with the teammates," said Bargfrede, who mainly has one goal for the coming weeks. "The most important thing for me is that my left knee is healthy again," said the midfielder, who hopes to be fit again for the start of the competitive matches.
