Philipp Bargfrede will prematurely leave the Werder training camp in Zillertal to travel to Chiemsee to continue his rehab from a meniscus injury. Bargfrede will depart Austria on Sunday after the test match against Athletic Bilbao. "Philipp will get checked out again and use the time for an intensive therapy. Here, he is fully connected to the process while he will be cared for around the clock there. It's good to speed up the issue," said head coach Robin Dutt.
"I worked a lot here, got a lot of treatment and made some steps forward in the first few days. Unfortunately the knee reacted to the preliminary exercises for the running and it swelled up a bit. The swelling has hindered me from making the next step. In Traunreut, I had some good experiences and feel like I'm in good hands. It's also important that I free up my head and really concentrate on my training," said Bargfrede, who will stay at Chiemsee for the next two weeks. "But I will definitely be back in Bremen for the Day of the Fans," said Bargfrede.
While Bargfrede worked out individually Saturday morning, Marnon Busch had to leave the morning session prematurely with knee problems. The youth talent had just been brought to the training camp Sunday evening after the injury break to Luca Zander. "We hope that he can train again tomorrow," said Werder manager Thomas Eichin.
