Philipp Bargfrede and Aleksandar Ignjovski have been two of the biggest winners of the second half of the season. While ‘Iggy' has started the last six Bundesliga matches for the Green-Whites, his teammate has started eight of the nine matches in the defensive midfield. But Werder coach Robin Dutt will have to make some changes for the team's match Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. against VfL Wolfsburg as both players will miss the contest.
Bargfrede is out with a suspension after his fifth yellow card from the Freiburg match and Ignjovski will not play due to a stomach muscle strain. Ignjovski has complained about stomach pain since the last two matches against Stuttgart and Freiburg but fought through it. But now the Serbian will sit out the Wolfsburg game.
One option to replace Ignjovski is Czech international defender Theodor Gebre Selassie with Clemens Fritz being another. Should he play on Tuesday, the captain would appear in his 250th Bundesliga match. "Naturally I would be really happy if I could help the team again on the pitch and also play my 250th match," said Fritz. The coach would not say who will play against the Wolves, though Dutt did say: "There will be at least two changes."
