Onur Ayik returned to the football pitch Wednesday night as the 21-year-old, who has a professional contract with Werder until the summer of 2012, celebrated his comeback after 10 months out with an ACL injury. Ayik played in a benefit game with the U23 side against a Hummeltal side in Flecken-Aerzen, and Ayik showed that he had not forgotten how to score, hitting for five goals in Bremen's 20-0 victory.
"It was just important for Onur to play again and then also score a couple of goals," said Werder youth coach Thomas Wolter. Ayik was also happy after his first 90 minutes. "Finally I could play again. It was so much fun being back on the pitch. I am happy that things are slowly going forward," said Ayik.
