Werder's Levent Aycicek will once again head under the knife as the 18-year-old travels to Bad Griesbach on Thursday to see knee specialist Dr. Heinz Jürgen Eichhorn, who will perform the arthroscopic surgery on Friday.
The midfielder, who had only recently got back to action from an ACL injury, took a knock on his knee Friday morning and had to leave training early. The first diagnosis showed damage to the interior meniscus of the right knee. "With an arthroscopy we can determine if the knee has further damage. Levent will definitely stay on site for a couple days after the surgery," said team doctor Götz Dimanski, who is continual contact with the operating team.
There was better news for Naldo, Aleksandar Ignjovski and Sebastian Prödl. After the trio played in Werder's 5-0 victory over a selection from Vechta on Sunday, the Werder players were back in team training on Tuesday as well. Naldo and Prödl had trained individually on Friday while "Iggy" stayed in the weight room.
