Denni Avdic is leaving SV Werder and transferring to AZ Alkmaar of the Dutch Eredivisie. The clubs agreed on the move on Wednesday. "Denni sparked some attention with his good performances in the top Dutch flight before his injury. We talked with him about his situation and agreed that a transfer made the most sense for both parties," said Werder manager Thomas Eichin about the move of the striker.
Avdic was sent to Dutch top flight side PEC Zwolle before the start of the 2012-13 season and the Swedish striker scored eight goals in 23 matches before an anterior cruciate ligament injury stopped his season. The 24-year-old had spent the last two months rehabbing in Sweden. He returned to Bremen and started an individual training program on Monday.
Avdic transferred to Werder in January 2011 from IF Elfsborg Boras and appeared in seven competitive matches for the Green-Whites. In addition, he played 12 times for Werder's U23 team. His contract with SV Werder expires in 2014. Neither club released details about the move.
