Werder once again had a taste of Sweden starting on Monday as Denni Avdic not only returned to Bremen but was also seen again on the training grounds - even though initially it was only individual training. "I did two months of rehab in Sweden. I feel good, but I can tell that I still need a little bit of time," said the 24-year-old striker after the first session with physiotherapist Sven Plagge.
Avdic will still need a while before fans see him on the grass at Weser Stadium. The Swedish striker was sent on loan to PEC Zwolle last season and worked his way to a leader with the Dutch top flight side with eight goals in 23 matches in the Eredivisie before going down with an ACL tear.
While Lukas Schmitz (broken tarsal) and Philipp Bargfrede (lateral meniscus injury) could not be on the pitch, they did take part in the DFL Media Day. Schmitz needed crutches to get around while Bargfrede was still limping a bit. Media were able to take pictures of and make videos with both players.
