After late two goals, the mood at SGL arena was a bit down. Despite the good start and another comeback, SV Werder suffered their first defeat of the season. But a youngster showed the way just moments after the 4-2 loss at FC Augsburg. "Of course, the defeat is aggravating, but it's good that it starts back up right away," said Marnon Busch, looking ahead to the match on Tuesday against Schalke 04. Fin Bartels confirmed that frame of mind, saying: "We will get back up. I am convinced of that."
WERDER.DE listened around in the mixed zone after the match to see how other Werder players and officials saw the match in Augsburg.
Zlatko Junuzovic: "Of course, after the loss, not everything is messed up that we built up. The disappointment directly after the match is naturally pretty big. But it's just a moment in time. We shouldn't look at the table but continue to play at our level to be more successful in picking up points. The many goals conceded are aggravating. We need to play more concentrated and altogether play better. That doesn't just count for the defence but the entire team."
Fin Bartels: "We are frustrated and disappointed right now. We had big expectations and wanted to pick up three points. Unfortunately we couldn't get it done. Now we have to get back up like we always have in the last few games after falling behind. I am convinced of that."
Thomas Eichin: "Against a tough team like Augsburg, you have to go into every challenge full of commitment. It felt like every action was whistled against us. We lost our rhythm through that. We shouldn't have allowed that to happen. We need to look at ourselves in the mirror."
Robin Dutt: "We had an optimal start with the goal. We were immediately present and played orderly after the goal. Augsburg got into the game and were tough in the challenges. After the 2-2 equaliser, we played really well and built up pressure. You thought it would keep going like it has from recent weeks."
Davie Selke: "We had big expectations and wanted to reward ourselves with a victory. We started well in the game and unfortunately let it out of our hand. We need to forget about this match now and continue on."
