Marko Arnautovic has not given any big interviews for months even though there are piles of requests in the SV Werder press office. But the Austrian international wanted to get out of the headlines and cancelled almost all outside activities. At the training camp in Belek he made one exception: "If an interview is absolutely necessary then I will do it."
"If Tino, our media director, asks for important interviews, then I always say yes. But I have been concentrating more on football and will continue to do so." The often extroverted striker was pleased with his behaviour away from the pitch the last couple months. "Away from football I have been much more seldom in the headlines. I feel better like that. It is not nice when you look at the newspaper everyday and always see bad things about yourself in there or the telephone rings all the time and someone wants to know something."
The Austrian admits that this aggravated him in his first year with Werder. "I don't know what the people think about me, but certainly they have asked what kind of guy is he? Or what was he thinking then? But I am not the bad boy that everyone thinks I am. I just want to play football, but I want to do that with emotions. I am a good guy, one with a heart, one with an easy heart," said Arnautovic.
