Werder Bremen's Marko Arnautovic was suspended for three Bundesliga matches Wednesday morning by the sports court of the German Football Federation (DFB) in a single-judge proceeding.

Werder Bremen's Marko Arnautovic was suspended for three Bundesliga matches Wednesday morning by the sports court of the German Football Federation (DFB) in a single-judge proceeding. The DFB supervisory committee brought up the charge following a red card by Arnautovic.

Werder Bremen and Arnautovic have accepted the ruling. "We had hoped that Marko would be given only two games because had not previously been reprimanded due to unsportsmanlike behaviour. But we have to accept the sentence," said manager Klaus Allofs.

Arnautovic was sent off by referee Guido Winkmann for his foul against Sergio Pinto in the 78th minute of Werder's game at Hannover on Sunday 2 October 2011.

The Austrian international will miss the games against Borussia Dortmund (Friday 14 October 2011), at Augsburg (Friday 21 October 2011) and Mainz (Saturday 29 October 2011).
