Klaus Allofs will become an honorary member of the Fan Club Nationalmannschaft (National team) as the Werder manager will be introduced as the ambassador of the fan club before the Germany national team friendly against France on Wednesday 29 February 2012 at Weser Stadium.
"I was always a fan and supporter of the (German) national team because as an institution it is a very important image bearer for professional football," said Allofs. "It's been about a decade since we in the Bundesliga decided to specifically support the national team because we were of the clear opinion that if the national team plays well and works then it's also good for the Bundesliga and our entire professional football. We all profit from it as the figurehead of German football. In that regard, I am a fan, a big supporter of the national team and cross my fingers for good results and attractive matches."
During his active career, Allofs earned 56 caps for Germany and scored 17 goals, becoming European champion in 1980 and World Cup runner-up in 1986.
