"Aaaaaiilton, oohoo, Aaaaaiilton, ohohohohooo!" - Ailton Goncalves da Silva celebrated the league title and cup double with SV Werder Bremen while winning the scoring crown during the 2003-04 season. The Brazilian played six years along the Weser and now Ailton is coming back to Bremen's Weser Stadium. The 40-year-old will end his moving career on 6 September 2014 with a raving farewell match with plenty of old acquaintances.

"My biggest wish is coming true. I am very happy to be able to end my career where it all began," said Ailton Tuesday afternoon in front of two dozen journalists at Park Hotel. Ailton was talking to the reporters in the suite where he spent the first months of his time in Bremen.

The Brazilian invited the entire double team from 2003-04 to accompany him again on the pitch in his farewell match. Among his former teammates to have already said yes are Fabian Ernst, Tim Borowski, Paul Stalteri, Frank Baumann, Valerian Ismael among others and possibly even "le chef" Johan Micoud.

The championship team will face off against a selection of South American teams, including former Werder stars like Claudio Pizarro, Diego and Naldo and former Schalke teammates from Marcelo Bordon and Lincoln. Also in the game will be Julio Cesar, Ratinho and more and more. Just like the farewell for Torsten Frings, Weser Stadium should expect another real highlight to warm up every Green-Whites fan's heart.

For Ailton, there was no question about where his final match should take place. He always had a special relationship with the Hanseatic city. "Whenever I walk through the city, people still say hi to me and are positive. The Werder fans have never forgotten my name," said Ailton.

In 219 Bundesliga matches, Ailton scored 106 goals, 88 of them coming with the Bremen W on his chest. But plenty has passed in the decade since he was scoring king with 28 goals. "I have to prepare a bit for the match, run a bit and train," joked Ailton. "But actually I only need a good team behind me. Ailton just stands up front and scores goals."
