Sandro Wagner's banged up ankle felt better again and he completed the morning run with the team without a problem. When he took the pitch later during the day on Norderney to test his ankle and how it reacts to stress, Werder's number 19 said it was okay after his individual session.

Wagner worked on the ball with physiotherapist Sven Plagge on an obstacle course before completing his favourite activity - hunting. Wagner did not go hunting for goals but instead trying to hunt and catch Plagge, which he clearly enjoyed. It remains unclear when Wagner can return to team training. "He has taken steps. We have to wait and see what stress he can take," said Werder coach Thomas Schaaf about the state of the forward. Things were a bit less positive about Denni Avdic. Werder's Swede had to leave training early in the evening as he struggled with a pelvis injury. Avdic missed the morning run on the beach and instead rode a number of kilometres on the bike.

Before the healthy Werder players - other than Avdic and Wagner - came together for the third and final session on the An der Mühle grounds, they went through a half-hour photo shoot for the sponsor Volkswagen. Afterwards Schaaf and his coaching staff took over the training and did not experience another personnel injury.
