Twelve months have passed like nothing. Highs and lows, celebrations and disappointments, departures and returnees. 2010 - another year gone by with wonderful moments and a special anniversary. It's not easy to keep track of it all. That's why WERDER.DE once again offers an end-of-year Green-White almanac. Werder 2010 from A to Z, to remember and smile. Today: Part 1 - A to C:

A - As-Salamu alaikum
"Peace be with you" is the rough translation of this heartfelt Arabic greeting. The 2010 year was hardly three days old as the Werder Bremen delegation experienced the exemplary hospitality of the Middle East people. More exact, of the people of the Emirate Dubai where the Green-Whites held their winter preparation training camp for the second half of the Bundesliga upon invitation of Dubai Sports Channel.

B - "Better"
Big victories, titles and dream goals were not the only things to recall over the course of the year. Moreover it was the small, sudden and unexpected occurrences that provoked the true goose bumps moments such as what left back Mikael Silvestre experienced in the November home match against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Werder fans showed their appreciation of the Frenchman's extraordinary performance by giving him a standing ovation. "It was not easy for me," said the new acquisition. "I had been criticised - which is also part of my job - and I really worked hard on myself." Head coach Thomas Schaaf said that from day one, Silvestre "has totally identified himself with our efforts." He added: "I never do this but after the game, Mika came over to me and the first thing he said was ‘Better'. I find it outstanding that someone comes and doesn't say that everything was great but only that he was better." Against Frankfurt, Silvestre had 113 ball touches and played nearly mistake-free defence with a number of strong rushes forward and excellent crosses. Things can continue in this manner.

C - Colossos
Those interested in a rush of personal adrenaline can do so in a number of ways such as free climbing or bungee jumping. Another possible way is to wait in line for Colossos in Heide Park in Soltau, the biggest and fastest wooden roller coaster in the world. The trip around the track lasts exactly 1 minute and 49 seconds. Still not enough? Then we suggest a trip to Weser Stadium! In addition to the time advantage (90 minutes plus stoppage time), a number of mentally exhilarating football moments occur, which sparked a Süddeutsche Zeitung reporter to write: "Please buckle up!" There is "danger for your own health" as Werder's "anarchistic team" once again is "looking for the ultimate kick". Such highs and lows, hopes and fears, cheers and complaints are all too common occurrences. Bremen's 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin, the 4-4 draw against Valencia and the 4-2 victory against Nuremberg are just three of many examples from the last year for the thrilling events that take place at Weser Stadium. One person who can no longer be affected by any of these action-packed moments - no roller coaster, no flight to the moon - is head coach Thomas Schaaf. "We are used to it," said Schaaf in March after the 3-2 thriller over Bochum in his usual calm tone.
