The sports court of the German Football Federation (DFB) has handed down a fine of 30,000 euros to SV Werder Bremen. In addition, Werder must invest 10,000 euros more in security measures. Werder appealed to the DFB sports court about the amount of the fine.
"We reacted directly after the incidents from the North Derby and have already introduced the first measures. We will put the 10,000 euros into further security-relevant changes at Weser Stadium. There haven't been any grave pyrotechnic incidents in Bremen in more than 10 years. Therefore we thought the fine was too high," said Werder board chairman Klaus Filbry. "We knew even before the ruling that pyrotechnics are dangerous and damage in certain ways the fans and the club. We will therefore continue to try and identify the culprits and hand over the fines to them."
