The worst thing is not being able to do anything, as Aron Jóhannsson has discovered in his time on the sidelines. Since October, the attacker has been unable to run out for Werder and help his teammates in the battle for important points. "It hasn't been easy for me. I can't help the team. That's hard because I can see how anxious everyone is," said the US international. However, there has been some light at the end of the tunnel for Jóhannsson in recent days.
Along with physiotherapist Sven Plagge, he completed an individual running session, and he's been able to try out a few tricks with the ball at his feet. "My recovery is progressing," he added. However, it will still be some time before he can help his side out in the league. "I hope to be back again by Christmas," said Jóhannsson. As before, the main aim is to be back in full training in time for the preparations for the second half of the season.
Until then, he'll do a lot of work in the gym in order to build up some strength, whilst also taking part in a few sessions out on the pitch. The frustration that comes with being completely out of action appears to be over for him.
