It was an afternoon to forget at the Volkswagen Arena for Werder. A lot went wrong on Saturday afternoon, leaving Eichin, Bargfrede & Co. a lot to discuss after the full-time whistle.
"The 6-0 loss really hurts," manager Viktor Skripnik said, shortly and sharply. "I'm furious, but I need to be careful that I don't say anything I'll regret tomorrow," said sporting director Thomas Eichin.
WERDER.DE has put together the most important quotes regarding Werder's performance in Wolfsburg.
On the game:
Viktor Skripnik: "The disappointment is huge. It was an abysmal performance from us. We had a bad day and Wolfsburg were incredibly strong. We could have also conceded a lot more than six goals if Felix Wiedwald hadn't made so many good saves. Now we need to stay calm and keep believing in ourselves."
Philipp Bargfrede: "The loss and the margin of defeat are exactly what we deserve. It was a very weak performance from us. We don't show the qualities that have made us so strong in recent weeks. We were missing a lot: willingness, compactness, conviction."
Thomas Eichin: "It was no normal hammering. In my state of shock, I should be careful that I don't say anything wrong. The performance is inexplicable. I can't find the right words for it and I have no explanation. We had nothing at the back, nothing in midfield and nothing up front. We'll analyse this and consider what needs to be done next and what we need to change about the team."

Fin Bartels: "There was a great sense of disappointment in the changing room. It didn't click for us collectively today and I have no explanation for that. We all know we made a mess of things today. I'm speechless. We need to take a deep breath first of all. The second goal made things very hard for us. We need to break down the game intensively because something like that just can't happen. We shouldn't get carried away, though. We know that it wasn't good today."
Felix Wiedwald: "It's terrible how easily we gave the game away today. I've never conceded six goals before in my career, so it's particularly disappointing. We've been good on the road recently, which makes today so hard to explain. The whole team lost collectively today."
Zlatko Junuzovic: "It's a bad afternoon for us. It was very hard to defend. We didn't force the issue; we were just reactionary. Wolfsburg ran riot. We were cannon fodder today. Every goal hurt."
On the increased security measures:
Viktor Skripnik: "It wasn't a normal matchday for us. It's unfortunately nothing new for me, as there's been a similar situation in my home country for a while now. It's sad that this is the case in Germany now, too."
Philipp Bargfrede: "It's obviously something you notice, but we tried to be completely focused on the game."
Fin Bartels: "We prepared as we do for every other game. I never doubted that the game would go ahead. One or two thoughts do go through your head during the minute's silence."

On the upcoming derby with HSV:
Viktor Skripnik: "We need to apologise to the fans today. We'll see a different Werder next week."
Fin Bartels: "We need to look back through the game and keep our heads held high. We need to continue in the derby from where we stopped before the game today. It's a special affair and we'll show a response to today's performance."
Felix Wiedwald: "It'll be a completely different game. We're playing at home and we'll give 100 per cent in order to win the game."
Philipp Bargfrede: "We need to turn things around very quickly and play very differently against HSV."
Fin Bartels: "We need to show a response and we need character. We're starting afresh against Hamburg."
Zlatko Junuzovic: "We need to show a different side of ourselves against HSV. We can put things right again in the Nordderby."
