Claudio Pizarro celebrated a first win in the current World Cup qualification campaign with the Peru national team, beating Peru 1-0 early on Saturday morning. Jannik Vestergaard, meanwhile, suffered a 2-1 defeat to Sweden with Denmark in the first leg of their European Championship playoff.
Captain Claudio Pizarro put on a convincing performance during Peru's first win in their qualification group for the 2018 World Cup, before being substituted in the 84th minute. The win sees Peru climb to seventh in their group, ahead of Argentina and just a point behind Brazil. Peru and Co. now travel to Brazil where their next qualifier is taking place on Tuesday.

On Saturday evening, Denmark lost the first leg of their European Qualifier 2-1 away against Sweden in Solna. Werder's Jannik Vestergaard did not make an appearance, however.
But Vestergaard and Co. still have it all to play for, with the late away goal giving them a chance in the second leg. A 1-0 win in Copenhagen would be enough for Morten Olsen's team to seal qualification to the Euros in France next summer.
