There was a moment of concern for the spectators at training today as striker Anthony Ujah went to ground and had to leave the field after a three-way challenge with Lukas Fröde and Assani Lukimya. Captain Clemens Fritz also had to leave training early.

After tests on Wednesday, team doctor Philip Heitmann was able to give a diagnosis, but there is a degree of hope and optimism for the weekend. Ujah has sustained some muscle bruising and Clemens Fritz can breathe a sigh of relief. The Werder captain has some muscle stiffness in his thigh. Both may yet be able to play away at FC Augsburg on Sunday.

Austrians Zlatko Junuzovic and Florian Grillitsch both trained individually today with fitness coach Jörn Heineke.
