It wasn't just the regular training onlookers who noticed that someone was missing today. Werder youngster Florian Grillitsch has been in the limelight in the last few weeks. As all present watching training noted, he wasn't in the first of the two session today.
The all-clear, however, came not so long after as it became clear that the U21 national player was training individually in the weights room inside the Weser-Stadion. The 20-year-old had had problems with his calf, and so is not able to take part in full training. "It's just something I'm carrying, nothing bad. I will go back to training this afternoon," he said. Clemens Fritz was in training this morning, but will miss the afternoon session to do some individual work, the opposite of Grillitsch.
Defender Santiago Garcia missed the session altogether after his injury. The 27-year-old Argentinean has had calf muscle problems since the Mainz game. "Santi is training by himself for the moment. It's still unclear when he will return to first team training, but we are hoping he will be back by the weekend," said coach Torsten Frings.
