+++ Viktor Skripnik is hoping that the euphoria of the cup can help his side recover faster: "Our main task now is to get out players fit again. Everyone is very tired but very happy. My players might recover sooner because of the win against Köln," said the manager in Thursday's press conference. Skripnik was therefore already focusing on his key players on Wednesday evening. The squad went on a bike tour on Thursday morning before they take to the training pitch again on Friday. There's no real recovery time as a result of the hectic schedule this week, and Werder welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Weser-Stadion in just two days' time. Whether Santi Garcia will feature or not remains to be seen. "We definitely need Santi but he's not available at the moment. We need to keep an eye on the situation. We'll know more on Friday," said Skripnik. +++

The teams in the pot are: Bayern München, Hertha BSC, Darmstadt 98, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, FC Augsburg, Werder Bremen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, VfB Stuttgart, 1. FC Nürnberg, 1860 München, VfL Bochum, 1. FC Heidenheim, Eintracht Braunschweig , Erzgebirge Aue and SpVgg Unterhaching. +++
+++ U17 World Cup Round of 16: The Germany U17 side, featuring Werder's Johannes Eggestein and Niklas Schmidt, will play Croatia tonight in the U17 World Cup in Chile. Christian Wück's team progressed through to the knockout stages by finishing in second place in their group. +++
