The Werder players enjoyed the praise and congratulations for several minutes after the match in the green and white away end, which was well and truly deserved after Skripnik's men's convincing performance. After five games without a win to their name, the relief was clear to see. "It's a great weight off our shoulders," said goalscorer Fin Bartels.

Werder.de has collected the thoughts and opinions of the staff and players after the game.

On the game:

Viktor Skripnik: "Everything went well for us today. We played well on the counter and did the right things when we didn't have the ball. This victory was not only important for the table, but for our mindset."

Thomas Eichin: "The team worked hard and finally took their chances. In this way, we earned the victory."

Clemens Fritz: "We wanted to hold strong defensively, like we know we can. Furthermore, we were always looking to create more chances up front. I was surprised with how clinical we were."

Fin Bartels: "We weren't in a lot of danger and didn't allow the opposition much. That was the difference. The goal we conceded doesn't matter, only the victory."

On their defence:

Viktor Skripnik: "We were very disciplined against Bayern, and we also applied that to the game today. It worked well."

Clemens Fritz: "When we show that kind of passion and get stuck into the opponents, we can be a bit more playful during the match."

Zlatko Junuzovic: "We didn't allow the opposition to get into the game and stayed as a team. I hope that we can take this positivity into the next few weeks."

On the last few weeks:

Thomas Eichin: "You go through phases in the Bundesliga of losing a few games in a row. It's about how you deal with it. We played well against Bayern and we did again today."

Fin Bartels: "It's a huge weight off our shoulders. The victory was important after the bad run of results."

Anthony Ujah: "We have been under a lot of pressure in the last few weeks, but we have overcome it."

Florian Grilltisch: "We have redeemed ourselves with the win. We worked hard in training this week and wanted the victory. We won't get ahead of ourselves, but take it game by game."
