After three games and nearly four weeks on the sidelines, Philipp Bargfrede returns from his suspension to the Werder squad, and just in time for the game against the champions from Munich on Saturday. However, Jannik Vestergaard sat out the final training session on Friday afternoon through illness.

Everyone at Werder is agreed on one thing: against Bayern, nobody is going to be sitting around "drinking coffee," but instead giving their all on the pitch, as explained by Philipp Bargfrede. The midfielder has missed the last few games after a red card against Ingolstadt, but now he's raring to go and is full of confidence: "I'd like us to put in a good performance and take the three points." That, despite the fact that "Bayern are probably the best team in the world at the moment," Bargfrede expanded.

By contrast, Jannik Vestergaard can't yet be quite as positive. The central defender returned to Bremen from the Danish national side after the international break with an illness and sat out Thursday's training session before training individually on Friday.

Werder will also have to make do without Aron Jóhannsson. The attacker is suffering from a hip injury and the exact date of his return is not yet known.

Provisional squad to face FC Bayern München:

Zetterer, Wiedwald - Santiago García, Gálvez, Lukimya, Fritz, Öztunali, Pizarro, Junuzovic, Kroos, Ulisses García, Ujah, Bartels, Gebre Selassie, Hüsing, Grillitsch, Lorenzen, Sternberg and Bargfrede
