The Germany U20 side started the Elite Cup with a victory over Turkey yesterday. Frank Wormuth's men beat them 1-0 in Ulm thanks to a goal from Max Dittgen (SG Sonnenhof Großaspach).
Luca Zander and Maximilian Eggestein started the game in front of 2,268 supporters. Leon Guwara came off the bench with 15 minutes to play. Michael Zetterer was an unused substitute.
"It was a great evening for me. It was wonderful to play for Germany again," explained Zander. "It was a good performance from us. We dominated the game and could probably have scored more goals," added the 20-year-old.
Maximilian Eggestein came close to making it 2-0 on the hour mark but he hit the post when well placed. Head coach Frank Wormuth was impressed with the performance: "The team played really well. They've got to grips with the philosophy."
The Elite Cup continues for the U20s on Saturday when they face the Netherlands in Aalen.
