In the first Bundesliga games of this season, a young singing for the Green-Whites has played his way into the spotlight, and the hearts of Werder fans: Ulisses Garcia. It came as a surprise to many that the 19-year-old featured in the SV Werder starting XI of the opening six Bundesliga games, and performed to a high standard. In the clash with FC Ingolstadt however, the Switzerland junior international was forced off at half time with a fractured toe. Now, a week and a half later, Garcia is back.
On Tuesday, the defender returned to team training. A whole week earlier than expected. In a good mood and with fire in his belly, Garcia presented himself at training on Wednesday morning. He was even able to participate in the practice match at the end and get stuck in as well. "I can still feel it slightly, but I'm not having any more difficulties with the injury," explained Uli to WERDER.DE

Since the injury was "only a fracture of the toe and not a proper break," as Garcia emphasised again, he was even able to join in with training a few days earlier than expected. "We are now watching from day to day how much the foot is recovering," said Garcia, who was also on the pitch for the team's afternoon training session.
Concerning whether or not the 19-year-old would return to the squad for the game against Hannover 96 on Saturday, he wouldn't like to hazard a guess: "It's too early for that." There are still a number of training sessions on the schedule before the weekend is upon us in which Garcia will be hungry to fight for his spot in the squad for the 'mini Nord-derby'.
