Werder's sporting director Thomas Eichin will remain with the Green-Whites over this season as well. The 48-year-old came to an agreement with the SV Werder supervisory board earlier than expected on a contract extension until 30/06/2018. The contract will be signed in the coming days.
Werder's chairman of the board Marco Bode confirmed the agreement in the evening: "Thomas Eichin suggested to me this morning that he would accept the offer. We are pleased that he has signed the contract and will remain in his position. We are confident that he, along with his colleagues will work to encourage the Werder way, and together with Viktor Skripnik promote the development of the coaching team." Thomas Eichin is looking forward to the challenge: "We have started something here which is nowhere near finished: all of us on the board have huge ambitions for this club."
Thomas Eichin came to SV Werder Bremen in February 2013 as Klaus Allof's successor. In the last few years, he has been able to dramatically reduce the player budget but still initiate a positive sporting development.
