After the loss against Ingolstadt, Werder will have to recover in the space of just a few days. Viktor Skripnik's team are already on their way to Darmstadt. The game against the Lillies will take place Tuesday 22nd September 20:00 CEST.
The good news is that Zlatko Junuzovic has returned to the squad. The Austrian striker proved how important he is to the team in the game against Hoffenheim. After beating his cold, Werder's player of the year 2014/2015 is back training and will travel with the team to the next game. Whether he will be in the starting line-up is still unclear.
Philipp Bargfrede, however, is set to miss out on more game time. The defensive midfielder received a red card against Ingolstadt after fouling one of the opposition players. "We're annoyed about that. It was a stupid challenge and you can't get away with that. We will really miss him," said Skripnik. The head coach did not say who would be replacing him. "It will be someone who is fit and who knows the position well," clarified Skripnik in a press conference on Monday.

The SVW coach backed Assani Lukimya, who gave away the penalty, after the game. "I spoke with Luki about the situation and told him about some of the mistakes I made in my playing career. It's not important now though, and he played very well during the game. He promised me that he is okay, and I told him a lot of positive things, and now we will move on. He will without a doubt start against Darmstadt," he said.
Skripnik can take a lot of positives from the game. "I am confident that the loss has made us more determined to win. The Darmstadt game is the only thing that counts now."
This is the Werder Bremen squad that have travelled to Darmstadt:
Zetterer, Wiedwald -S. Garcia, Gálvez, Lukimya, Vestergaard, Fritz, Jóhannsson, Öztunali, Pizarro, Junuzovic,Kroos, Ujah, Bartels, Gebre Selassie, Eggestein, Sternberg and Fröde.
