Onwards! Just three days after missing out on the chance to get home points against FC Ingolstadt, the Green Whites will play again on Tuesday (22/09) at 20:00. For the first time in 33 years, SV Werder will face SV Darmstadt 98 in the Bundesliga. Find out the reasons why a trip to Darmstadt is worth it for the Werder fans, the particular connection Viktor Skripnik has to Darmstadt's manager Dirk Schuster, and Claudio Pizarro's potential reason for celebration.

Did you know, that…

…Darmstadt have only recorded one win against Werder in the past? SVW have faced them seven times before in competitive matches, and the Lillies have only won once. Werder have won four times, and there have been two draws.

…Werder have a very good idea of where the Darmstadt goal is? In the previously mentioned seven matches, Werder have scored 21 times against the Hessen side, with 14 in the last three.

...that Dirk Schuster's team has not yet won in front of a home crowd. After being promoted to the Bundesliga, they have drawn twice and lost once at the Merck-Stadion, most recently 3-0 to FC Bayern München. Their last home win at the top level is therefore more than 33 years ago (January 1982).

...that the travelling Werder fans have reason to be optimistic? Fritz and Ujah have scored in the every one of their last twelve away matches. This should breathe confidence into the 2,500 Green White fans on Tuesday evening.

...that Claudio Pizarro could celebrate a remarkable anniversary? Werder's new but old striker has been subbed on in both of his first two matches since returning to the club. Another such substitution would be the 100th time that he has been introduced from the bench in a Bundesliga match. He would be only the eighth player to achieve this in history.

...that Viktor Skripnik expects a tough challenge from the opposition? "Darmstadt have six points already and beat Leverkusen away. As well as that, they didn't lose any of their first four matches, We will concentrate on our game, and want to make sure we leave with all three points."

Referee Guido Winkmann will take charge of the match between Werder and Darmstadt on Tuesday evening (Foto: nph).

...that Werder's manager knows Dirk Schuster well? "We got our coaching badges at the same time and have been good friends since then. We always wish the other happy birthday, and have a good talk when we see each other. I am looking forward to seeing him again and facing his team," said the 45-year-old prior to the match.

...that Guido Winkmann will referee the match? The 41-year-old former police officer has been a DFB referee since 2001, and has refereed second Bundesliga matches since 2004, first Bundesliga matches since 2008. His assistants are Christian Bandurski and Arno Blos. Dr. Robert Kampka is the fourth official.
