Werder Bremen will have another representative at next summer's European Championship. After Theodor Gebre Selassie secured qualification with the Czech Republic over the weekend, Zlatko Junuzovic and his Austria side also booked their ticket to France with a convincing 4-1 victory over Sweden on Tuesday evening.
The midfielder was the driving force behind Austria's win - the 28-year-old won a penalty in the eighth minute, which was duly converted by David Alaba to give Austria an early lead. "Juno" left the field to a standing ovation after being subbed off in the 80th minute, with his side leading 3-0. The midfielder will return to Bremen on Wednesday and join up with Gebre-Selassie, who also secured qualification to next summer's tournament whilst away on international duty. "Theo" has been back in training with the Green-Whites since Tuesday, and was visibly delighted with his nation's achievement when he spoke to the media yesterday afternoon. "I'm very happy that we've secured our place at the tournament," said the full back, but the 28-year-old refused to get ahead of himself. "We celebrated in the changing room. After that, for me it was all about getting back to Bremen as quickly as possible," said Gebre-Selassie, who is already focused on next Sunday's league game in Hoffenheim.

As well as Junuzovic, four further Werder players were in action for their national sides on Monday and Tuesday. Maximilian Eggestein started in Germany U20s' 2-1 loss to Poland, but was substituted off at half time. Levin Öztunali was brought on at half time for the Germany U21s as they beat Azerbaijan 3-0 in Baku, helping his side to three vital points in their quest for qualification to the 2017 U21 European Championship. Anthony Ujah and Aron Jóhannsson were also in international action - Ujah's Nigeria beat Niger 2-0 in a friendly, with the Werder striker starting the game and also winning a penalty which put his side 1-0 up, whilst Jóhannsson was brought on in the 79th minute of the USA's 4-1 friendly defeat to Brazil.
