There is some good news for Werder at the end of the week, as Fin Bartels and Philipp Bargfrede both returned to training on Friday afternoon. Both players were absent at the beginning of the week due to slight injuries, with Bartels starting individual training again on Thursday and Bargfrede joining up with the team this afternoon after a test run this morning.

"It all went to plan and I was able to train with the rest of the team, and I'm optimistic that I'll be able to feature against Gladbach," said a pleased Fin Bartels after training on Friday. The 28-year-old picked up the injury last week, but received the all-clear to play against Hertha BSC and was brought on for the final half hour. However, he experienced a recurrence of the injury after the match and had to face a spell on the sidelines. "I've been out of action for long enough so I'm eager to get stuck in," he added.

Philipp Bargfrede has recovered from his bruised metatarsal and was able to complete the full training session today. "I was able to join in with everything, so it looks good for the match at the weekend," he said with optimism. However, Özkan Yildirim was not able to train with his teammates after picking up an injury in training on Thursday.
