SVW will be sponsored by a bank partner this season. Sparkasse Bremen AG have come to an agreement with Werder and will be co-sponsors for an initial five years until at least 2020. Included is a long-term option to extend the deal. The confirmation came on Thursday morning from Werder's chairman, Klaus Filbry, and Sparkasse chief executive Dr. Tim Nesemann.
"We are looking forward to this cooperation as two brands strongly established in Bremen. Both companies have a great interest in campaigning for and being involved in Bremen's success. Sparkasse Bremen is another serious and attractive addition to an important segment of our sponsorship pyramid," said Klaus Filbry, Bremen's chairman and chief of marketing. Dr. Tim Nesemann is also excited about the cooperation. "Sparkasse Bremen is looking forward to its partnership with SVW as one of the most well known symbols of the city, and to give their fans momentum. In the negotiations, we outlined a range of similar interests and goals, which, for the long-term benefit of our position, we want to follow up."
The cooperation will be based on supporting a range of different areas. Besides an enormous sponsorship package and an envisaged Bremen bank account with lots of added value, Sparkasse want to implement more projects beneficial to both parties and also to step up the funding for children and youth players. "Both SVW and Sparkasse are already very dedicated to this. We have common ground in the strong positions we hold in Bremen and want our actions to match our attitudes. In the coming weeks we will bring forward good ideas and implement them," said Nesemann. Sparkasse is also committed to the Women's Bundesliga and the up and coming players of Werder's academy. Sparkasse are the 11th partner of this sponsor initiative which has successfully been going since 2007, showing that there is a comeback in this kind of regional sponsorship.
One other focus of the partnership is the opening up of the current cashless paying system in the Weser-Stadion.
