Eight Werder first team players took part in a friendly for the reserves on Wednesday evening under the public's gaze. Santiago Garcia scored the winning goal against Arminia Bielefeld in the 1-0 victory. There were also run outs in Alexander Nouri's team for Janek Sternberg, Lukas Fröde, Melvyn Lorenzen, Oliver Hüsing, Michael Zetterer, Marnon Busch and Mateo Pavlovic.
With the exception of Santiago Garcia and Melvyn Lorenzen, all the first team players played for full game against the second-division side. The next important step for the left back and striker after taking part in first team training was the reserves match.
Garcia and Lorenzen were introduced on the hour mark, which was their first participation in match conditions for a long time. It took substitute Garcia 15 minutes to score the decisive goal after some good build-up play from Lorenzen and reserves player Thore Jacobsen.
