Great news for Viktor Skripnik and SV Werder! Right in time for this Saturday's cup match against Würzburger Kickers, every single Werder player was able to take to the field for training in some capacity on Wednesday morning. Although six first teamers had to train either individually or in smaller groups away from the main session, manager Skripnik will soon be able to call upon a full squad again. Two of the players making their comebacks were midfielder Philipp Bargfrede and central defender Alejandro Gálvez - something that was greeted particularly well by the onlooking Werder fans.
Bargfrede has been training individually since the start of this week after making his comeback from an ankle injury. Then defensive midfielder continued to train apart from the main group on Wednesday morning, together with Özkan Yildirim and Alejandro Gálvez. "I feel great and I was able to complete all my exercises together with Gálvez without any problems or pain. This afternoon we'll definitely both rejoin full training with the rest of the team," said Bargfrede during the short break between sessions. As promised, the 26-year-old joined up with the main group for the afternoon session - along with Gálvez, who has recently overcome a thigh strain.

Özkan Yildirim has been following an individual training programme for a number of weeks now, as he works towards his comeback from a knee injury suffered in May, which later required surgery. The midfielder is now finally almost ready to rejoin his teammates. Like all players upon their return from injury, Yildirim will be eased back into full training cautiously.
Another of the smaller groups that trained away from the rest of the squad was made up of Maximilian Eggestein, Cedrick Makiadi and Levin Öztunali. Whilst Öztunali (ongoing knee problems) and Makiadi (thigh strain) have been working on their rehab for a number of days, the youngster Eggestein was simply given a bit of a rest from training and undertook his own, lighter programme. The talented playmaker was granted the opportunity to regain his energy after a number of tiring weeks with the first-team squad, and will return to full training on Thursday. The trio sat out the afternoon session, instead resting up ahead of tomorrow's duties.
The competition for places between the sticks at SV Werder has now officially begun - Raphael Wolf returned to training alongside Felix Wiedwald and Raif Husic under the watchful eye of goalkeeping coach Christian Vander. Meanwhile, Michael Zetterer trained with the U23 squad on the pitch next to the first team.
Eight other players were absent for the afternoon session - instead they travelled with the U23 squad to play a behind-closed-doors training match in Bielefeld, as they look to get some valuable playing time. Those players are Janek Sternberg, Oliver Hüsing, Mateo Pavlovic, Santiago Garcia, Lukas Fröde, Marnon Busch, Melvyn Lorenzen and Ousman Manneh.
