Luca Caldirola has left SV Werder on loan and will spend the year with newly promoted Bundesliga side Darmstadt 98. Sporting director Thomas Eichin made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon. The defender is under contract with the Green-Whites until June 2017.
Caldirola moved to the Weserstadion from Inter Milan in the summer of 2013, having previously been on loan at Serie B team Brescia. Since joining Werder the 24-year-old has played 40 times in the Bundesliga and twice in the DFB Cup. The former Italy U21 captain will return to Bremen with Darmstadt on matchday six to play against his parent club.
