The SV Werder Bremen squad arrived in Zillertal in the Austrian Alps earlier and head coach Viktor Skripnik led the team out to their first training session on Sunday morning. "It's not our first visit and once again we find ideal conditions here. Everything is wonderful," said a satisfied SVW manager.
Winning the Audi Quattro Cup on Saturday evening supplied the team with a good boost of confidence for the upcoming days. "It was great to keep clean sheets in our two games and both opponents played with a lot of intensity. Winning the tournament makes it slightly easier to cope with the upcoming hard work," explained Skripnik. The Werder manager has been satisfied with the overall progress in Bremen's pre-season preparation: "The ten days that we have now been back have all been great. But we have to keep working hard and not allow any type of euphoria to develop."

The main focus until next Saturday will now be to work more on the ball. "We want to have more possession next season, more attacking fluency. In order to do that, we have to cover more ground and be less static," explained Skripnik after SVW's first training session in the Alps in which 26 players were available to him. "We still have a few injured players and had to make some tough decisions. Unfortunately that's part of our job sometimes. But every player still has the chance to show themselves. The door will always stay open," guaranteed the manager.
There are plenty of things to keep the players occupied in the region and they have two friendlies coming up, against 1860 München and Zbrojovka Brünn, but Skripnik has already reminded his players that this is not a pleasure trip. As in previous years, Zell am Ziller was decorated by the winning school in a competition set up by Werder's CSR brand (WERDER BEWEGT - LEBENSLANG). Giant green-white Werder logos, Werder flags and scarecrows resembling the players and the coaching staff were placed all around the valley. "Torsten has already spotted his doll," grinned Skripnik. "I think it's a great idea but unfortunately we are not able to enjoy it as much. We're not here on vacation." 300 SVW supporters will arrive in Austria throughout the week and WERDER's football school is also on site with a ProfiCAMP.
