SV Werder Bremen will face the Würzburger Kickers in the first round of the 2015/16 DFB Cup. The draw was made on Wednesday evening by tennis player Andrea Petkovic on German television. Würzburger Kickers won the Bavarian Regionalliga last season and consequently secured a place in the third division, which also saw them qualify for the DFB Cup. The first round of the competition will take place in August (7th-10th).
Viktor Skripnik: "Würzburger Kickers had a very good season in the Regionalliga Bayern and were promoted to the third division. But we're the favourites and will go about our task fully focused and of course want to progress to the next round. Personally, I'm looking forward to the reunion with our former player Clemens Schoppenhauer, who has become a permanent fixture there."
Thomas Eichin: "It will be a very interesting game, one we go into as favourites and only progressing to the next round counts. The DFB Cup is a very important competition for us and we want to approach just as meticulously as we did last year. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing Bernd Hollerbach again."

Clemens Fritz: "It's a tough draw. Würzburger Kickers are a good side, who have just been promoted to the third division. But we're wary as we lost to a third-tier team last time out in Bielefeld. Unfortunately, I can't help the boys due to my suspension, but we'll give our all to ensure we reach the next round."
Zlatko Junuzovic: "It's an interesting fixture and certainly not an easy draw. It's our duty and our goal to prevail there!"
Felix Kroos: "It's a tricky draw, but it's our duty to progress!"
Clemens Schoppenhauer (ex-Werder player and current Würzburger Kickers defender): "It's obviously the best draw there could have been. I'm massively looking forward to seeing my former coach Viktor Skripnik and his team again!"
