Werder players posed for a photo with members of the "Stephanus Werkstätten" in Neurippen.

+++ An unusual team photo: Before the start of training on Monday morning, the Werder players posed for a photo with 20 members of the “Stephanus Werkstätten” in Neurippen. The facility offers work to people with mental disabilities as well as physical and chronic illnesses. The visit ended with numerous autographs and personal photos – and unforgettable memories. A great gesture from the Green-Whites! +++

+++ Werder live on Periscope: There was a first for Werder’s media department on Saturday. Because of technical problems, Werder.tv had to cancel its live broadcast of the game against MSV Neurippen. Fans, however, were not left disappointed, because the game was instead shown at the last minute via the app Periscope. And this turned out well, with over 7000 viewers watching the first Periscope broadcast of a friendly involving a team from the Bundesliga. +++

+++ The man for all occasions: A great deal of organisation and coordination is needed for training sessions, friendlies and team events during a training camp. At MSV Neurippen, Guido Grashoff is almost always on the move, making sure that everything runs smoothly. The 45-year-old was given time off by his employer Huch Behälterbau, MSV’s main sponsor. “Our business is absolutely football mad. When a team such as Werder comes, my boss tries to make everything possible. Of course that’s great,” raves the U19 coach. In collaboration with the agency Match IQ, he is the contact person for Werder, and has a great deal to do. “Of course it’s demanding, but its huge fun and everyone is very pleasant,” says Grashoff. +++

+++ Team building on the lake! There was a different sort of training session in the programme for the first team on Sunday afternoon. Instead of being on the training pitch, di Santo, Wiedwald and co went dragon boat racing on the Ruppiner See. After a short introduction and practice, two boats of players, as well as boats with the coaching staff and administrative staff, raced against each other. +++

+++ Attractive test for the U23s: Next Saturday, 11th July, Werder’s third-division team will play a friendly with Belgian second-division side Union Saint-Gilloise. Kick-off will be at 15:00 CEST in the Sportpark Vinnenweg in Oberneuland. Tickets will be available at the stadium on the matchday, with a seat costing €8 (€6 for concessionary) and a standing place costing €4 (€3 concessionary). +++
