SV Werder Bremen will not only be making changes to the playing squad ahead of next season, but also the backroom staff. Fitness coach Reinhard Schnittker is leaving the Green Whites after three years at the club, as confirmed on Monday morning by sporting director Thomas Eichin. Schnittker switched from the Uni Paderborn in 2012, after he had already been responsible for some years, for the implementation of lactate tests at Werder in his role as head of performance diagnostics at the university. The 45 year old said his goodbyes to the team the day after the final game of the Bundesliga season.
"Reinhard Schnittker has done and outstanding job over the past three seasons, for three different managers. He has seen the team through some difficult times with his expertise. We wish him all the best for the future", said Eichin, who along with Viktor Skripnik has already started the search for a successor to join the coaching staff. "There are a few options; we will have some intensive discussions. We won't rush anything. It needs to be right, both personality wise, and expertise."
