SV Werder have won their first friendly after their team trip with a 4-1 victory against Eintracht Cuxhaven. The Green-Whites were clear winners, despite going behind early on. Late on in the game there was also a debut goal to cheer about.
Line up and formation:
Werder manager Viktor Skripnik took a few youngsters with him on the trip to Cuxhaven. Goalkeeper Oelschlägel, Lingerski, Güthermann and Piperkov all had a chance to prove themselves from the beginning, with Assani Lukimya leading the line in attack with youngster Güthermann. Behind them in midfield was an experienced diamond of Makiadi, Fritz, Kroos and Bartels.

7th minute: Hosts drop a bombshell. Despite a keeping out two attempts, Oelschlägel is unable to deny Albano’s follow-up shot. Eintracht take the early lead.
13th and 25th minute: "Striker" Lukimya turns the game around by himself. First he clinically finishes from a rebound, and then he heads the Green-Whites into the lead. Werder are slowly being rewarded for their dominance on the pitch.
38th minute: Luca Zander makes it 3-1to Werder. The right back simply needs to tap in following a perfect Makiadi assist.
49th minute: Fin Bartels almost gets himself on the score sheet. His shot from eight yards out is cleared off the line by the defender.
54th minute: Cuxhaven‘s goal scorer Albano almost adds another, but substitute goalkeeper Husic parries it delightfully off the line.

75th minute: Viktor Skripnik's men continue to dominate in the second half, though they haven't got the goals to show for it. The hosts are fighting hard to prevent any more Werder goals.
85th minute: 4-1. Pedro Güthermann scores his first goal for the Werder first team. The U19s striker scores with five minutes to go.
Summary: The penultimate game before a well-earned rest was an opportunity to give some young players a chance to show off their skills. But it was Assani Lukimya who stole the show. The central defender may yet have proved his prowess in another position after his two first-half goals. Ultimately, the result could have been a lot greater in Werder's favour.
