It's now come full circle. Felix Wiedwald will return to SV Werder Bremen after a four year absence. The 25-year-old, who put pen to paper on a two year deal earlier today, is delighted to be back. "It's great to return to Bremen. Werder are my club," explained the goalkeeper who was previously playing for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Wiedwald doesn't have a bad word to say about his old club's though. "I had some great times with Duisburg and Frankfurt but I have joined Bremen to be a first choice Bundesliga goalkeeper," he explained. The keeper is already well acquainted with the coaching staff, "I played for a few months under Viktor Skripnik when he was the U18 manager. I remained in contact with goalkeeper coach Christian Vander, who has always given me tips on how to improve." In terms of active players, he knows a few of the squad: "I played alongside Clemens Fritz, Philipp Bargfrede and Felix Kroos during my first spell. I was in frequent contact with Felix Kroos!"

Sporting director Thomas Eichin is delighted to have Wiedwald back at the club as "he's a young goalkeeper who has already shown his talent at Duisburg. He put in some great performances in the Bundesliga for Frankfurt." Wiedwald says that his aim to be the first choice keeper. The battle for the number one shirt between him and Raphael Wolf promises to be an interesting one. "We'll wait and see who starts the season between the sticks," said Eichin.
Wiedwald's past means he won't need long to adapt to being back at the club. "He won't need much time to settle in again," explained Eichin. The keeper added: "I was born near Bremen and have spent a lot of time here. A lot of people I'm close to live in the city. I'll feel at home again pretty quickly."
