SV Werder Bremen ended the season with a 3-2 defeat in Dortmund. Head coach Viktor Skripnik and sporting director faced the press on Sunday afternoon to review the season. WERDER.DE was there to summarise what was said.

Viktor Skripnik: "We achieved our main target by avoiding relegation. We're not happy with how things have gone recently, but we're not disappointed. We've done well this season, it's a minor miracle to be honest. We were written off but fought back."
Thomas Eichin: "I'm proud of the players for what they've achieved. We didn't fluke victories - we won games because we were the better side on the day. We feel like we can beat anyone on our day."
Viktor Skripnik: "I wouldn't say we've missed out on anything. It's annoying that people are criticising the players for missing out on Europe - our aim was always to survive, which we've been saying for weeks. I'm proud of the lads."
Thomas Eichin: "We need to change a few things and then we could have a season like Augsburg did for example. We need to believe in ourselves. We put in some brave and passionate performances this season and need to keep that up."
Thomas Eichin: "The new season has started already for us. We have a bit of work to do regarding loan players. In terms of concrete news, we have already announced that Anthony Ujah has come in to replace Davie Selke. There's still plenty of time so we're not putting ourselves under pressure."
Thomas Eichin: "My aim is to speed up negotiations with him but I haven't set a time frame or issued an ultimatum."
Thomas Eichin: "The team will go to Mallorca from Monday to Thursday - they've deserved it. It's a gift from Werder for their great achievement."
