The season is has ended early for Clemens Frtiz. Werder's captain will miss the final game of the season against Borussia Dortmund with a calf problem, according to manager Viktor Skripnik on Thursday. "Unfortunately we'll have to cope without of him at the weekend", he explained. Fritz was also missing from the Green White's game against Gladbach.
Most of the concerns surrounding personnel are fixed on just two players. Davie Selke and Philipp Bargfrede will rejoin training on Thursday afternoon. "We're keeping our fingers crossed that both will be fit in time for Saturday. When I look at Bargi's leg, I feel the pain myself", explained Skripnik.
The manager had an update on two other players: Levent Aycicek and Janek Sternberg will both definitely travel to Dortmund and not feature for the U23s, who are battling for first place in the Regionalliga in Cloppenburg. "We want to achieve the impossible in Dortmund. None of our players are thinking about their holidays yet. The team is training hard and full of enthusiasm. It's a cup final, with Europe the prize", said Skripnik.
