Werder midfielder Özkan Yildirim underwent a successful operation on his lateral meniscus on Tuesday. "I've come out the op feeling good and I have no pain at the moment. I'm pleased that everything went well and I can return to Bremen on Friday", expressed the 22-year old, who was operated on by knee specialist, Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Frosch in Hamburg.
In consultation with Werder's medical team, Yildirim will start his return with a six-eight week rehabilitation programme in Bremen. "I feel a lot better now that the shock has passed. At the beginning it obviously wasn't easy. When you train with the team for three weeks, start in the derby and then get injured straight away, it's really tough to take", he said in reflection.
But now his focus is fully concentrated on his recovery and then return in time for the start of the 2015/16 season. "I'm moving forward constantly. My aim is to be fit in time for pre season, but I want to be 100% before I jump back in. That's important to me so I will give everything from Friday." Yildirim tore his lateral meniscus at the end of April in training.
